Kansas City Case Study: The Simmons’ Tile-Free Transformation

One minute you’re scraping ice off your windshield, and the next, you’re sweating over a plate of world-class barbecue. But while we can’t control the wild Midwest weather, we believe your bathroom should be an absolute oasis of calm—not a daily battle against scrubbing grout lines.
The Simmons family came to us with a classic bathroom dilemma: a serious case of tile fatigue.
The Challenge
As you can see in the before photo, the existing bathroom was heavily reliant on traditional, heavy tile, both on the floor and inside the shower area. While traditional tile has its historical charm, it can feel freezing on those chilly Missouri and Kansas mornings. More importantly, keeping all that grout pristine is a tedious chore nobody wants to add to their weekend to-do list. The Simmons wanted to completely eliminate the tile from both the floor and the shower enclosure to achieve a warmer, more modern, and incredibly low-maintenance space.
The Solution
We proposed a full-scale tile eviction.
To tackle the floors, we introduced the Simmons to the absolute magic of Luxury Vinyl Plank flooring. LVP is an absolute game-changer for bathroom areas—it mimics the gorgeous, high-end look of natural wood but is completely waterproof, highly durable, and much kinder to bare feet.
For the wet area itself, we tore out the old, heavy-looking stone tiles (you can check out our mid-construction progress in the during photo. We replaced the old footprint with a sleek, seamless wall system designed specifically for wet environments. Finally, to tie the whole room together and make the space feel twice as large, we finished the project by installing one of our beautiful custom glass shower enclosures.
The Outcome
The results speak for themselves in the after photo. The bathroom has transformed from a dark, heavily tiled cavern into a bright, airy, and modern retreat.
